Pipeland Medical Practice in St Andrews has started a trial clinic for coil fitting.

This service is open to people in the local community – even those not already registered at the practice - who would like to have a coil fitted.

The trial will run for a six month period initially.

Dr Lorraine McFarlane, one of the GPs at Pipeland, explained: “At Pipeland, we are excited to be trialling an innovative way of enhancing the availability of reproductive healthcare in North East Fife.

“We hope patients across North East Fife, including those whose usual GP practice doesn’t provide this service, will be able to access a Coil fitting in a timely and convenient manner.

“We will be monitoring outcomes of the hub in order to ensure this is a viable model for both primary care and the NHS Fife.

“Working as a whole system, the hope is to positively impact on reproductive health outcomes as well as waiting lists for sexual health and gynaecology.  We also welcome feedback from primary care colleagues to evaluate the effectiveness of the service.”

If you are interested in finding out more or making an appointment there are three, simple steps to follow:

  • Read the information on Pipeland’s website
  • Watch the short online video so you know what to expect
  • Complete the questionnaire.

After submitting the questionnaire you will be contacted by a GP to arrange your appointment at the hub.
